Cognitive Mapping
Cognitive insights providing a foundation for neuro-inclusion.
Our Cognitive Mapping
When we talk about neurodiversity, we are acknowledging that everyone experiences differences with their cognition.
That said, everyone has their own way that they think, learn and process information. No two brains are the same.
Our cognitive mapping creates a visual representation of an individual’s cognitive make-up; Providing a basis for understanding how that individual processes, interacts and evaluates information.
What is Cognassist’s Cognitive Mapping?
Our Cognitive Mapping unlocks the intricacies of each brain’s thinking and learning patterns to leverage distinctiveness, enhance productivity, and amplify cognitive output.
Unlike any others, Cognassist’s Cognitive Mapping meets multiple rigorous methods and standards; Following strict methods that align with the American Psychological Association’s DSM-5 and the World Health Organisation’s ICD-11 for neuro-developmental conditions.
We are proud of our assessment’s clinical robustness and avoiding the assigning of labels, even for individuals with neuro-differences. Instead unveiling an individual’s natural processing bias and thinking distinctions.
What do we assess when mapping cognition?
Via the Cognassist, cognitive assessment, of which produces an individual’s cognitive map, we assess ‘Indexes and Domains’. In short, Indexes are simply groups of domains that are similar to each other in terms of the cognitive processes that they measure.
The three indexes, we have within our assessment are:
- Language & numbers: this relates to our overall familiarity with, and how we process the English language and numbers.
- Visual & Fluid: this relates to how we process new information that we are unfamiliar with, think about abstract concepts, and complete more complex problem solving including mathematical processing.
- Memory: this relates to how easily and efficiently we store and retrieve information from our long-term memories.
The nine domains we have within our assessment are Reading Decoding, Verbal Reasoning, Literacy, Numeracy, Visual Processing Speed, Executive function, Visual Perception, Verbal Memory and Non-Verbal Memory.
Cognitive insights power neuro-inclusion
Cognitive mapping is an invaluable tool that organisations can use to provide the correct support for neuro-different employees before, during and after disclosure.
Cognitive mapping results in a personalised report, giving employees insights into their cognitive differences and guiding discussions with their managers regarding support.
Who should take the Cognassist Cognitive Assessment?
Regardless of any pre-diagnosed neuro-differences, abilities or disabilities, our cognitive assessment is suitable for your all of your employees.
The assessment is only available in English – that said, we recommend completing it if English is your first language or English matches your working context.
For example, if you’re in an English-speaking country/workplace, the assessment can be completed, no matter what your native language is.
This is because it’s not uncommon for non-native speakers to find some of the language tasks harder, but this means we can suggest some strategies that can be useful in their everyday (English-based) tasks to reduce any language barriers if they exist.
Empower every employee to comprehend their cognition, take actionable steps to thrive, and cultivate a profound awareness of cognitive and neurodiversity.
