Over to you

Now it’s time for a couple of practical exercises to activate what you have learned in this module.

  1. Try making a list of any daily activities you might have previously struggled with at work, or currently find difficult. It could be something small, like keeping your desk area tidy, or bigger challenges like remembering the instructions that someone has just told you. Have you discussed these challenges with anyone? If not, think about the impact that discussing cognitive differences openly with your colleagues and employer could have had – do you think you would have or could overcome these challenges sooner?

The aim of this exercise is to build a greater empathy for yourself, and for others that might face similar or completely different challenges to you.

  1. We’d like you to list the insights or information you would like to gain from the Cognassist cognitive diversity solution for your organisation, and why. For instance, do you want your HR department to have a better understanding of existing employee’s cognitive differences, so it can support retention strategies and reduce loss of talent? Or maybe you want to maximise L&D spend by tailoring programmes based on employees’ cognitive reports.

In addition to the examples above, you might be looking to:

  • improve your brand to attract more diverse talent
  • help employees achieve their full potential and feel their contributions are being recognised
  • protect your business from any legal and ethical risks

Now write down how you will implement these insights into your neurodiversity policy or system.

The aim of this exercise is to get you to think upfront about the concrete actions you want to take away from onboarding Cognassist, so that you can better measure success.
