What's still relevant

How Multiverse builds early identification of learning needs, regular one-to-one reviews and clear escalation into its apprenticeships.
Why a need doesn't have to be diagnosed to be supported, and why understanding its impact matters more than the label.
Practical ways to talk with an apprentice who doesn't want to tell their employer, and why coach, employer and apprentice work best together.
How to prepare learners with additional needs for conversations with inspectors, and how to track progression and destinations.

What's out of date

Ofsted grades (from 7:38). Multiverse's inspection is described as graded outstanding, including its support for apprentices. Now: Since November 2025, Ofsted has published report cards with no overall grade; each area is graded on a five-point scale from urgent improvement to exceptional.
SEND in the framework (from 9:02). SEND and high needs are described as having risen up the inspection framework. Now: The renewed framework grades inclusion in its own right, and asks how staff identify needs even where leaders have identified none.
Needs assessment and funding (from 57:20). It describes a new requirement to assess needs, and weighing their impact on knowledge, skills and behaviours. Now: Apprenticeship funding rules are now set by DWP: providers must run a screening exercise at the start, and a learning support claim (£150 a month in 2026 to 2027) needs an evidence pack.
The Cognassist assessment (from 53:18). It describes screening every apprentice with the Cognassist assessment. Now: The assessment measures nine cognitive domains in three indexes, and a score of 84 or below flags a potential barrier for a tutor's judgement, not a diagnosis.
