What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help sites work, remember your preferences, and provide information to site owners. We also use similar technologies such as local storage; we refer to all of these as “cookies” here.
How we use cookies
We group cookies into the categories below. Necessary cookies are always on because the site can't work properly without them. Statistics and marketing cookies areoff until you choose to accept them.
Separately, we run basic, anonymous measurement that uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device — only aggregate statistics such as page views and journeys, used solely to improve our own site. This runs without needing your consent, but you canopt out at any time using the “Your privacy choices” link in the footer.
| Category | Consent | What it's for | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Always on | Make the site work and keep it secure — and remember your cookie choices. | cognassist_consent (stores your consent for 180 days) |
| Analytics (basic) | Always on — no cookies | Aggregate, anonymous measurement of how the site is used (page views, journeys) to improve it. Uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device. You can opt out at any time. | Google Analytics in cookieless mode — no cookies set |
| Statistics | Off until you accept | More detailed analytics that recognise returning visits across a session, so we can see how the site is used in more depth and improve it. | Google Analytics (_ga, _gid, _gat), Microsoft Clarity |
| Marketing | Off until you accept | Measure the performance of our advertising and show you relevant Cognassist campaigns on other platforms. | Google Ads, LinkedIn, X, Reddit, Microsoft Advertising, Apollo |
Managing your choices
When you first visit, you can Accept all, Reject optional, or save a custom selection. You can change your mind at any time using the“Your privacy choices” link in the site footer, which reopens the consent settings. Your preferences are stored for 180 days.
You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site from working.
Opt out of anonymous measurement
The basic, cookieless measurement above runs without consent, but you can switch it off entirely. Your choice is stored on this device only.
