Module 3: Reasonable Adjustments
In this module, we will tell you all you need to know about reasonable adjustments, including what they are and how to plan and implement them into your organisation. We will also give you an overview of some simple adjustments you can easily make straight away, to improve your organisation’s neuro-inclusivity.
Over to you
Now it’s time to put what you have learned in this module into practice. Using the list of reasonable adjustments we showed you in the video, also provided below, make a note of any that you think you would personally benefit from at work. Don’t worry if your cognitive assessment report didn’t identify any development areas; reasonable adjustments can support everyone, because everyone is cognitively diverse!
Now take some time to make a list of any adjustments or changes you might benefit from that aren’t on this list. Chances are, someone else in your organisation would also find this adjustment helpful. To gain a better understanding of employees understanding of reasonable adjustments and their individual needs, you could launch a companywide survey. In the future, we will be sharing specific training modules to help with specific domains and development areas. In the meantime, some simple adjustments your organisation could implement include:
- sharing meeting agendas or notes prior to the session to support verbal memory
- booking meetings for 25 minutes instead of 30 to allow staff a 5-minute comfort break to aid executive function
- provide online diaries or scheduling software to help with time-management and support the numeracy domain
