The withdrawal of apprenticeship frameworks and the introduction of apprenticeship standards has brought about a change from continuous assessment to an end-point assessment (EPA) model.
The EPA is there to test that an apprentice is fully capable of doing their job before they receive their apprenticeship certificate.
This change has caused significant disruption for learning providers, assessment organisations and learners most of all.
I think we can all agree:
It’s the responsibility of everyone in our sector to remove barriers to education.
Part of that responsibility is understanding and implementing reasonable adjustments for learners with cognitive diversity and additional learning needs.
The new reforms are clear: to ensure learners achieve with end-point assessment, reasonable adjustments need to be implemented for learners that require them – and it is the responsibility of the education provider.
These adjustments are vital to breaking down barriers to learning (and assessment) and making education more inclusive for all.
But how do you understand and implement reasonable adjustments?
What’s in this guide?
It’s easier than you think. We wrote this handbook to show you how.
To cut through the noise and complexity of the reforms and share the practical steps that you can take to implement reasonable adjustments for your learners at end-point assessment.
We’ve included best practice examples, with expert perspectives from Carl Harper, End-point Assessment Manager at Interserve, which you can build into your own programmes.
The insight we give you here will help you to improve the quality of your programmes, provide a fully inclusive learner experience and unlock potential for achievement.
But most importantly, help your learners reach their full potential.
