Apprenticeships succeed when every learner is understood and supported. But with Ofsted expectations, ESFA funding evidence, and EPAO coordination, delivering personalised and inclusive provision can be time intensive.
Cognassist makes it simpler. We help you embed cognitive diversity into apprenticeship delivery to support learners, secure funding, and demonstrate inclusion at every stage.
Ofsted sees learning support as integral to quality
ESFA requires targeted and trackable support
Learners deserve inclusive journeys from day one
Personalised support reduces dropouts and improves outcomes
Avoid English and Maths Functional Skills being a barrier to completion
Remove achievement barriers at End Point Assessment
Under ESFA rules, screening for learning support is mandatory at initial assessment. Cognassist helps you do it right. The Cognassist platform fits naturally into your onboarding process, the digital cognitive assessment automates the identification of learning needs, and our AI-enabled learner and tutor journey features will help your team with data and educational psychology guidance to build ILPs that meet both learner needs and funding requirements.
Accelerate learner comprehension and retention to make every tutor interaction count
Save time by eliminating trial-and-error teaching approaches
Instantly create highly personalised Individual Learning Plans tailored to each learner’s needs
Ofsted’s education inspection framework (EIF) emphasises the importance of understanding learners’ starting points to plan effective teaching (“Quality of Education” judgement). Cognassist supports this by identifying cognitive differences that affect how learners learn, enabling providers to personalise support from day one.
Using our Flexible Learning Plan tool, tutors co-design personalised strategies with a foundation in education psychology for the learner. This allows them to target specific learning barriers with with precision that previously would have required one-to-one support from an education psychologist.
With month-by-month updates, tutors deliver, adjust, and embed strategies into learning. This in-flow support helps learners overcome challenges, build resilience, and develop learning behaviours that last.
Quarterly support reviews give learners and tutors space to reflect, measure progress, and make data-driven decisions. Whether scaling back or intensifying support, the focus stays on meaningful, measurable outcomes.

See full storyYes. Your learners can complete their Cognassist assessment either alone, for example at home or work, or alongside a tutor. This is because the assessment aligns to the design requirements of the International Testing Commission and has cheat detection in the form of intelligent Performance Validity Checks.
Cognassist has been designed alongside well-known ex-HMI inspectors to optimise the workflows towards the expectations and EIF of Ofsted. The goals of Cognassist and Ofsted, of removing barriers to learning and making sure those with learning differences are not left behind are well aligned and fit with the EIF.
Almost every AO and EPAO in the UK accepts Cognassist as part of your evidence packs.
Note. For JCQ compliance and Form 8 an appropriate practitioner must be present when the learner completes the assessment.
